Where Do I Start?

The beginning?

It seems like most of us are conditioned to think we must start at the beginning when we write. For me, that system never really worked. It also paralyzed me with anxiety and stifled my confidence as a writer. I think there are probably many of you out there like me, for whom the typical writer’s advice does not really work.

Do not fear, Writer! There is hope for us after all.

The answer is: start wherever you want!

Somehow, though, that answer can be more daunting than deciding how you should introduce your cast of characters. The key, really, is figuring out your personal “best” place to start.
